Specialist in pathological anatomy since 1996, Doctor Orvieto has worked in multiple important institutions in Northern Italy, such as the European Institute of Oncology, the regional hospital of Treviso, and the University hospital of Padua. Since 2018, he has held the position of director of the pathological anatomy unit at ulss5 polesana (Rovigo, Veneto Italy) and more recently he has accepted the position of director in the ulss8 Berica main hospital in Vicenza, Veneto Italy.

During his career, he has focused mainly on breast pathology and neuropathology, but has also carried out general surgical pathology activities.

He is active in the field of digital pathology, placing at the top of the ranking in regards to clinical trials in the field of breast oncology and in the field of training through the use of sharing digital preparations on a telepathology platform. Since 2018, he has been teaching a course on ‘digitalisation in clinical practice’ at the University of Padua as part of the master's degree course in ‘science of diagnostic technical health professions’. He is actively involved in the development of digital pathology in pathological anatomy and in evaluating the possible use of AI in medicine.
