Employee Spotlight: Interview with Tuomas Väisänen

How long have you been at Aiforia, and what do you do?

I’ve been at Aiforia for two months, working as a project specialist in custom AI services. Currently, my day-to-day work is mainly focused on creating AI models for our clients. This means I get to be at the forefront of research in teaching AI models to identify various elements in whole slide images.

How was your experience first joining Aiforia and your team at the company?

I started at Aiforia when everyone was working remotely. Nonetheless, the onboarding process was smooth and I was learning to build my first AI projects in no time. 

What is your favorite part about your job?

My favorite part of working for Aiforia is definitely the work environment. It’s a pleasure to work with people who are really motivated by what they do. Each day is different, and I feel that I get just as much responsibility in my work as I dare ask for.

What do you do for fun?

I am an outdoors person. Nothing better than putting on my hiking boots and heading for a trek or going camping for a bit. 

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

During the quarantine era I started a small business in jewelry making.
